£80 million man: Ronaldo off to Madrid

(AFP) Manchester United have agreed to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a world record 80 million pounds (130 million dollars, 94 million euros), the club said Thursday.

"Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of 80 million pounds for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid," said a statement on its website, under the headline "Reds accept �80m Ronaldo bid."

The statement continued: "At Cristiano's request - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

"Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice."

Real confirmed they had approached United with a bid for Ronaldo but gave no indication of the fee involved.

"The club hopes to reach an agreement with the player in the coming days," a statement on the club website read.

Ronaldo's United and Portugal team-mate Nani admits his compatriot will be missed, but he believes the English champions have enough quality to guarantee more success in the future.

"Cristiano's departure is not impossible to fix," Nani said. "He will be missed but United have other players who can replace him."

Ronaldo has long been a target for the Spanish giants, whose recently-returned president Florentino Perez vowed earlier this week to do "everything possible" to take the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu.

The news comes just days after Real clinched the 56-million-pound transfer of Brazilian playmaker Kaka from Italian side AC Milan as they look to compete with arch-rivals Barcelona on the domestic front and such as Manchester United and Chelsea in the Champions League.

United fans have repeatedly been told no deal had been agreed for the sale of FIFA's world player of the year in the face of regular statements from Spain the former Sporting Lisbon star was bound for the Bernabeu.

But it has been reported in England that Ronaldo, who is currently on holiday in Los Angeles, earlier this year had agreed a pre-contract with the Spanish club worth 8.3 million pounds a year over the next five years.

He has been keen to join Real for 18 months and it took a last-ditch plea from United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to persuade him to stay at Old Trafford last year.

Ronaldo, who joined United for 12 million pounds in 2003, had made it clear he wanted a new challenge after winning the Champions League in 2008. But Ferguson flew to Lisbon and talked him into one more year with United before reporting Real to FIFA for an illegal approach.

However, Ronaldo, who is contracted to United until 2012, was never fully embraced by fans or team-mates after his flirtation with Real.

His name was sung less at Old Trafford and there was a noticable drop-off in his performances. Although he scored 18 league goals and helped United to the Premier League title, Ronaldo was often an uninterested bystander for long periods in matches.

Cracks in his relationship with Ferguson began to show when Ronaldo reacted angrily to being substituted against Manchester City and then criticised the United manager's tactics after the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.

He clearly feels he is in danger of growing stale and the chance to be part of Real's new galaticos project will appeal to a player never shy of playing on his star quality.

Ferguson had previously insisted he "wouldn't sell that mob a virus" when asked about the possibility of allowing Ronaldo to join Real.

But the Scot has run out of patience with Ronaldo's hankering to move to Spain and has finally decided to cash in on his prize asset. United's debts of 700 million pounds must also have played a role in the club's decision to accept the offer.

Ronaldo scored 118 goals for United, including 42 in 2007-08 alone, and it will hard for Ferguson to replace the star.

Moves for one or more of Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery, Wigan's Antonio Valencia and Lyon forward Karim Benzema would go someway to filling the void.

Real's cash could allow Ferguson to keep Carlos Tevez, who had appeared close to leaving after United refused to meet the 32 million pounds price tag set by his economic rights holders, although the two parties remain apart on the Argentine's wage demands.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he expected United to be stronger from the sale of Ronaldo.

"He's one of the most brilliant players in the world. I think people will be sad that he's lost to the game in England," Brown said of Ronaldo.

"At the same time, I know Sir Alex Ferguson well, and I know he'll have plans that will be rebuilding and renewing his team," he told BBC.

"And I would expect that Manchester United and English football will emerge not weaker, but emerge in a new way and probably stronger in the long run".

'I'm gay' says 'Idol' runner-up Lambert

Make-up wearing "American Idol" star Adam Lambert has ended the guessing game over his sexual orientation by confirming he is gay in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

Glam-rocker Lambert, 27, who finished runner-up to clean-cut Kris Allen in the television singing contest last month, told Rolling Stone he had been living openly as a gay man for several years.

"I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear I'm gay," Lambert told Rolling Stone in its latest issue due on newstands Friday.

"I've been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man. I've been at clubs drunk making out with somebody in the corner."

Lambert, who wowed "Idol" judges with his extraordinary vocal range, was seen as the overwhelming favorite to take the title in the May 20 finale.

However he lost in a final hyped as a smackdown between the conservative values of "red states" represented by Arkansas-based Allen and the liberal mores of "blue states" personified by the flamboyant Lambert.

woke up by Feroz at 1030am . almost got heartattack la ! planned to meet him at 1pm sharp at cs there but was late by abt half an hour ! but he waited ! LOL . okay (: planned to go sentosa walk walk at th beach there . wahh like romantic liddat hor . then we meet alrd, bus-ed to HarbourFront . very longgg laaaa ! i got motion sickness . heheh . felt giddy in th bus then he keep asking ' u ok tak ?' i was like '.........' at last reached HarbourFront . took tram to palawan beach. not alot of ppl la today . th breeze quite nice (: then aft talk talk abt our ex's and stuffs . walked back to th beach sattion, took monorail to sentosa station@vivocity . walk walk arnd vivocity then planned to eat . went to all fast food outlets and was packed ! so no choice went banquet to eat . he ordered everything, food&drink . and i didnt finish it cos th food like not upto my standard . hehehehe. sorry la Feroz ! then we walk to th top of th vivocity , he wan look at th cruises there , step romantic only this guy ! we talk talk there . aft i complain very long at tt place ,then decided to go home . bus-ed back to cck . he walked me home . then outside my lift there smth happen ! u guess la hor ! heheheheh ! paiseh la ! till here la, take care guys . overall , i enjoyed this day (: thanks for all th memories , Feroz ! i hate it la ! why must it always be this way ? 2008 has always been a very suay year . started off wif all members of JIWERS fam quarreling wif each other, stupid misunderstandings and etc . dun wish to elaborate further . i've happily put up a frame of my dearest JIWERS fam in my bedroom but it shattered just now . i was like "............................. LOL haf nort been blogging for quite sometime now ~ i realise okay peeps ! haha ! its nort dat i dun wann to blog or too lazy to blog . its just dat i'm too busy . going in and out of s'pore ! hehs ! yeay ! Thursday;2808o8 the P.E day or mayb RAINY day . today, we(3A ) are supposed to haf our last P.E lesson of the term . but idk wad bad luck has fallen unto us that wenever its our P.E day, it will rain ! for sure ! i've been noticing it larr ~ its soo the wth !! very very very suay larr i should say ! but this tyme morr suay , T.Chan dun even allow us to play in the rain anymorr since it's been raining quite heavily ~ babadada ! asshole ~ freak me out mann ! we wanted to beg hym larr ! but too bad he soo stubborn larr today ! okay okay .. i wan to stop discussing abt dat heart-piercing topic ! before we are supposed to haf P.E , its english lesson . K. lee came to class as usual , ignoring a bunch of spoilt brats which includes me , as usual; free period ! haha we can do anything we want in english class larr , wic haf both an advantage and also a disadvantage ~ at the start of the lesson, since its raining, i wanted to sleep wif the earpiece stuffed inside my small ear-hole ! wth larr ! i borrowed that earpiece from hamizan before english lesson and it keeps dropping off my ear ! very very very irritating ! i am sooo pissed off dat i decided not to listen to any songs . yili was sitting next to me, cheng han in front of me, eugene beside CH and jiong wen they ol there larr .. we chatted for quite some time . when chatting dat tyme, i realised eugene turning his head very very slowly . he's lyk the robot of the day larr ! gagaga ~ sorry brudder ! he cnt turn his head to the right properly cos of some swollen veins ar .. haha ! he very funny larr .. den he asked me to massage him , from the shoulder area to his neck to his head there larr . he say i massage nice leh ! ehem ehem ! gaga ~ but , he a bit gay larr wen i massaging hym dat tyme . he say its pain den at dat one point of tyme, i massaged extra hard, he quickly grabbed CH hands and never let go ! hahaha ! Monday;o1o9o8 it's teacher's day ! happy teacher's day to all teacher's who haf taught me ;either good or bad, i dun care ! thank you ! its also the start of the fasting month and also the first day of the sept hols ! yay ! i nvr fast today ! i planned to start doing my homework today but the tv draws me towards dem ! i spent the whole day watching tv instead of doing hwk ! but i still considered fast lorr cos i nvr eat even wen im not fasting . wen it comes to break-fast , we sat as a family and eat ! haha . daddy den said wan go carrefour , dun know correct spelling mahs .. go there wan buy water heater . my house the water heater spoil le and my daddy cant stand cold water in dis cold weather ! haha . went home quite late . reach home, changed, lights off !

my mummy created one new rule at home:no littering at home esp sweet wrappers LOL
my mummy funny lehhs ..she cnt see any sweet wrappers on the floor. not even one ! once she saw it on the floor, she cn nag all day long , wic will den hurt my ear a lot ! (: mummy sorry ; but its the fact(: hehs ! i not happy wif the parade rehearsal on friday luhhs ! i wan tu talk abt it ! i really need to pour evrythg out since i nvr post for two days !

friday's parade rehearsal sucks alot ! i know the GOH contigent are really not up to standard for dat rehearsal but must u guys pass such comments ? we are really not in the mood for the parade . plus its right after the orals so a lot of us are lyk not having no mood for the parade . during one of the rehearsals, one of the members from the GOH contigent dropped the effing rifle ! sooo wth luhhs ! very paisey u know ! it adds morr to our embarassments for not being able to march or do basic drills properly ! ohmygawdd ~~ the feeling totally put me down luhhs .. besides that our fucking TOs set too high hopes on us despite knowing the background of our squad ! cnt u people just think abt it ?! we know we are useless & throughout all these years, our squad was lyk one of the worst u can say ? haiyos ... some of our squad members really have no hope . we cnt simply force them to come for stupid trainings just for one damn , pathetic parade ! we also have some self-respect . wad morr do our future have in store for us ? i really feel lyk hating the NCC boys ! how could u guys say dat ? would u lyk it if i say things lyk : " hey, ur drills really sucks " or maybe : "in all the squads in NPCC, ur squad is the worst !" would u feel happy ? please think before u say anything ! please, for god's sake ! u guys wanna boast abt ur GOH contigent last yr ? u guys are not dat good either ! no one is perfect whether u believe it or anort ! u guys did some mistakes too during the rehearsal but did we ever say anything ? never ryte ? did we say things lyk u guys sucks or ur drills are lousy ? dats der most hurting thing one can endure . its worst den being rejected ! did u even hear us say anythg abt ur contigent last yr ? we never say anythg cos we dun wanna hurt anyone's feelings. we dun intend to offend anyone by saying dey are lousy . but is these wad we get back ? i really feel dat we dun deserve to be treated dis way . we need tyme to brush up evrything . && dat fucking mr lim ! hu is he ? he's no less den a dog ! i repeat : A DOG ! he dun even know the drills, & he can think of teaching us by showing example ! go wash toilet bowl luhh ! wen u dun even know a thing, dun talk abt it ! dun even think abt it ! disgrace urself ! still gort the cheek to scold us ! wth~ he should be motivating us not looking down on us ! wth~ he really made me hate hym a lot ! i hate NPCC lyk hell ! no one can even describe how i hate NPCC ! now , i will attend trainings just for the sake of meeting friends n getting CCA points . dun think dat i attend NPCC cos i love it ! dun dream ! for the rest of my squad , i would lyk tu say that , we are a squad ! we know each other better than anyone else do . we will work together , put our heart & soul in the parade & just get over with it . we have to show others what we are capable of doing ! since they are looking down on us, we should show them dem dat we are a squad & will always work together as one . we must understand each other & should not blame each other for anything . we should get along with each other very well in order to work together . remember : ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE ! what we aim , we will achieve ! jia you sec 3'08 squad ! i love you !
